These Terms are a binding agreement between you and the operator named below. The English text is the sole authoritative version; any translation of interface labels is for convenience only.
These Terms are between you and Xu Shan, an individual operating the Foxing service at https://foxing.ai (“Foxing”, “we”, “us”). Public contact address: Yangpu District, Shanghai, China. Support email: [email protected].
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website and reading service (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You may read public-domain books without an account. Some features — including saved progress, private uploads, purchases, and most AI co-reading after a limited trial — require an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account.
The Service is not directed at children under 13. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, to create an account or make a purchase. If you use the Service on behalf of another person, you represent that you are authorised to bind them to these Terms.
Public-domain books in the public library are free to read. They are selected and uploaded by Foxing administrators. We make no warranty that any particular work is free of third-party rights in every jurisdiction; public-domain status can differ by country. Private EPUB uploads, where available, are private to your account and are not part of the public library.
The reading companion is powered by a third-party large language model provided by DeepSeek. Its responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise unsuitable. They are not professional advice of any kind. You are responsible for how you use them. We do not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or continuity of the AI features, and we may change or discontinue the underlying model or provider at any time.
AI co-reading includes a limited free trial for anonymous or unverified use. Verified accounts receive a one-time welcome credit grant. After that, AI use consumes prepaid credits as described below. Reading the book text itself does not consume credits.
You agree not to:
We may suspend or terminate access that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or the law.
When you upload an EPUB, you represent and warrant that you own or are authorised to upload and use the file, and that doing so does not infringe anyone’s rights. You retain your rights in your uploads. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store your files and provide the reading and AI features to you. You agree to indemnify and hold Foxing harmless against claims arising from content you upload in breach of these Terms. We may limit upload volume and prohibit redistribution to prevent large-scale unlawful sharing. Uploaded files are private to your account and are not made available for download or public sharing. We operate a repeat-infringer policy (see the Copyright section below).
We respect intellectual-property rights and respond to valid notices of alleged infringement. If you believe material on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice with the elements required under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) — identification of the work, identification and location of the allegedly infringing material, your contact details, a good-faith statement, a statement under penalty of perjury, and your signature — to [email protected]. We will act on valid notices expeditiously and, where applicable, honour counter-notices. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
Foxing is operated by an individual and may not maintain a separate U.S. Copyright Office Designated Agent registration. Notices sent to the email above are still reviewed in good faith.
Reading public-domain books does not consume credits. Certain AI features use Foxing credits. Credits are digital prepaid usage units for AI co-reading: they have no cash value, are not transferable or redeemable for money (except where mandatory law requires otherwise), and are not a deposit, stored-value account, or subscription. Credits have no scheduled expiry date while your account remains available; they may be reversed or restricted in connection with refunds, payment disputes, fraud, abuse, or account termination as described in these Terms.
Credit packs are one-time purchases (not subscriptions). We publish pack prices and credit quantities on the website before purchase. Everyday conversations typically use a small number of credits; when a request could use substantially more, the Service displays a maximum charge and asks for confirmation before sending it. The actual charge and resulting balance appear in your usage history.
Payments are securely processed by Creem, which acts as Merchant of Record. Creem collects payment, calculates applicable VAT, GST, or sales tax, and provides the official receipt or tax document. Pack prices are displayed in USD before applicable checkout tax unless stated otherwise. Credits are added to your Foxing account after Creem confirms payment. No physical goods are shipped. Your bank statement may show a CREEM.IO descriptor. Foxing does not issue a duplicate tax invoice.
Credit packs are digital one-time purchases. If credits from a purchase remain fully unused, you may request a refund within 14 days of purchase by writing to [email protected]. Used credits are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where delivery failed (for example, you paid but credits were not granted, or you were charged twice). Approved refunds are processed by Creem and reverse corresponding credits in Foxing. A refund or payment dispute reverses the related credits. If those credits have already been used, your balance may become negative and further AI use may be paused until the account is resolved. This does not prevent access to reading material or existing history.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where reasonably possible, we will provide advance notice of a general discontinuation and a reasonable opportunity to use a valid remaining credit balance. Termination for abuse, fraud, or a payment dispute may suspend or forfeit access to credits to the extent permitted by law. After termination, we handle personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, Foxing is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Foxing’s total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to Foxing for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim, and (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD 100). Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any non-waivable consumer rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence, the courts of the People’s Republic of China have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service. Consumers may also benefit from mandatory protections of their country of residence where those protections cannot be waived.
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will update the date at the top and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you (for example by email or an in-product notice). Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
